Someone once said; "'Old people' should write down some of their exploits or at least some of the things that they did as children so they can be passed along." As we look back on our childhood it seems very different from what our children and grandchildren have or are experiencing. Was our childhood really as innocent as it all seems.
For the moment this section will only deal with my exploits from the year 2000 until the present.
The various years will be broken down and submitted as sub-entries under this heading and listed simply as Part 1 (years), Part 2 (years), etc.
The reason that I am starting with the year 2000 will be explained in Part 1.
Why am I doing this? That may be a bit of a difficult question for even me to answer. I suppose some people would think that it is simply bragging about some of the places that I have had the opportunity to visit. However, this is far from the reason. It is simply to reinforce what I thought when I was a youngster - you will have to read part 1 to understand that.
Up until my retirement in 2009 all of my travels were in one way or another connected with work. It was either work sent me to those places or because of the travel benefits I was able to visit other countries on holiday. For those reasons I consider myself very fortunate to have spent the time working for External Affairs (EXTOTT), later The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAIT). Without that work experience I would never have been able to see most of the countries that I visited.
I had originally put these as blog entries starting way back in 2015 but they are all consolidated now.
On to Part I
