Hash Trash is the name given to any write-up to do with a hash.
These are write-ups that I have done for the various hashes in Ottawa.
As I am no longer "Hash Scribe" Hash Trash has not been updated.

FRIDAY - 30 JUNE 2017
History themed photo clue trail - Runners and wankers trails.
Location: Saint Brigid's Well - 310 St Patrick St.
Circle up @ 7:00 PM
Hare(s): LBM
Registration and swag pickup @ 6:00 PM
Of course, just to keep up this year’s June tradition, it rained most of the day but luckily stopped about a half hour before the circle. It ended up being a sunny and warmish evening.
Little Big Man was in charge of setting this clueless trail which led the walkers through the downtown core of Ottawa. The OH3 hashers were more than happy to help the out of towners find the next check point. The runners were off on a different set of clues but did manage to meet up for a photo op outside of Major Hill Park. Because of the heightened security in the core area several of the photo sites were out of bounds.
The trail included three rehydration stops, the first beside the National Art Gallery for a quick Fireball, then across the street for the photo op. ON ON to the old Dominion Tavern for some golden nectar. Once that supply had run out it was further down the street to a 3rd floor balcony for the circle, however we were informed that there had been a noise complaint so being contentious people we just packed up and it was back to Saint Brigid’s Well, which just happens to be in the basement of what used to be a church, to finish off the circle and enjoy some more rehydration fluid.
No photos from Friday's event.

RED DRESS RUN
SATURDAY - 01 JULY 2017
RED DRESS RUN
Location: Montgomery Legion 330 Kent St
Time: 12:30 PM
Hares: Dumbledick and Flounder with help from Bobbit
Back to the Legion for circle, an early dinner: Roast pig and other food, Hash beer/Cash bar then off to Parliament hill in organized? groups ….
Saturday started off cloudy and off and on rain, when will it ever stop? But cleared up about 11:30 and it looked as if would turn out to be a fine day. However, there was a little scare just at the opening circle when it started to rain. The Religious Advisor raised her arms and magically the rain stopped and the sun came out. Praise be to the RA! After the introductions, quite a number of out of town hashers from Ontario, Quebec and even venturing north from the USofA, it was to call in the hares to give a quick run through of the trail. Because of the high security presence around “The Hill” there would be no chance of even getting close. The hares had also decided that it was best to keep in two groups, runners and walkers, rather than set a marked trail. You never know what may happen when someone discovers some unknown marks or substance on the sidewalks.
The runners were off on their own trail while we walkers followed our ‘Japanese tour guide’ who held up an old red dress like a flag. We made our way through the throngs of people who were lined up to go through security to make it to Parliament Hill. It turned out that many of them had been in long line ups for hours to only discover that they were going nowhere. During the following days there was much media coverage about how poorly the overall organization of the day’s event had been handled.
Of course none of that bothered we intrepid hashers it was simply ON ON weaving through the throngs of tourists as we made our way from one street corner to the next. Our hare led us through the heaving mass of civilization to reach the rehydration stop at ‘The Puffin’ which was tied up in the Rideau Canal. Once the thirst had been slackened and tummies fortified with such nourishing sustenance as Kettle potato chips and Doritos it was back to the Legion to relax until supper, catered to by Fat Ass, of a roasted suckling pig and Chinese/Malaysian curries, rice and a special salad were ready.
After a sumptuous supper the hashers drifted of to various venues to enjoy the rest of the evening as close to the hill as they could get to, private parties and then watch the massive fireworks display.
Well done to the hares for managing to keep the two packs together through the crowds.

NO! I did not do the ball breaker which turned out to be 15K through lots of ‘shiggy’.
For once there had been no overnight or early morning rain and the hashers were looking forward to the bright sunshine continuing throughout the day.
The hashers began to assemble well before the bus departure time and we were thrilled to see the fly past and then an aerial display by the Snowbirds. We may not have been in an ideal position to fully get the entire spectacle but the Snowbirds did make several passes over us which always brought a round of cheers and clapping. I am sure the pilots could hear us.
Once we had boarded the buses it was off out of town to an unknown destination. There was much speculation on just where we where headed but no-one got the drop off point, which happened to be parking lot number 20 of the Mer Bleu Conservation Area, correct.
Once introductions had been made and the trail markings explained it was the runners off first followed by the walkers. The running and walking trail started out along the same path and then split into two separate trail for a distance and then meet up again and continue on to the rehydration stop.
The trail began along a well groomed NCC trail which led through a White Pine forest blanketed with ferns. At the run/walk split the walkers trail continued though the wide well laid out NCC path through the forest. All was well until we came to a roadway and the arrow pointed us across the road.
The arrow pointed towards a sign which said ‘Winter Trail’ with our hash markers leading into it. It was only a very, very short distance until we were knee deep in dirty muddy water. Several of the hashers did not want to get their shoes wet so stayed on the road to continue to the rehydration stop. A couple of these hashers had a justifiable excuse for avoiding this shaggy because they were carrying very young children in snuggle packs. However, the others should have been able to do this trail but decided that taking the easy and dry way out even though it was in ‘non hash’ tradition was up to their high standards of keeping your feet dry and clean. To them it was woosie, woosie, woosie!
While it seemed like forever to reach the end of the water it was then into ankle deep mud before coming out onto dry land to only be confronted with a thick grove of brush. Not only that the lead hare may have even led us off trail while she searched for her dog. But no fear the dog was found and we made it through the brush with only a few scratches. After finally reaching high ground it was back on to one of the NCC trails which brought us to parking lot 23. Oh did I also mention not only was there water, lots of water, mud, lots of mud but also head high grass and reeds. Ah the joys of out of the city hashing!
Parking lot 23 turned out to only be a rehydration run while we waited for the runners and then the ball breakers to meet up. Once everyone had safely arrived and had been rehydrated and fortified with nourishing food it was ON ON once again but this time only for a short loop and back to the parking lot.
While the day had been sunny and warm just as the circle was getting into full swing the sky opened up with a clap of thunder and a sudden down pour. This time the RA could completely stop the rain but did manage to slow it down, which brought on several verses of ‘Singing in the Rain’. After closing the circle it was a group of soggy hashers who re-boarded the busses and headed back to the Legion.
A lucky few had even brought not only dry shoes but also a change of clothes which they donned at the Legion. Once again there was a quick carry on of the circle which brought in some of the woosies who avoided the water trail. A gift pack from Beau’s Brewery was auctioned off and Delhi Belly was the final bidder with a $100.oo donation.
The supper, caterers supplied by the Legion was a hip of beef, mashed potatoes vegetables, salad and cake for dessert.
While some called it an early night others carried on with and evening of frivolity complete with “Golden Showers” acting as a DJ.
I may be one of the very few to admit it I believe this was one of the best runs that I have had the pleasure of doing in Ottawa. Well done hares.
All in all it was; a well organized, enjoyable, exciting weekend with some great swag to go with it.
A very, very well done to all of the organizers for the weekend you certainly outdid yourselves.

R*n #1712
When: Monday, July 3, 2017 @7:00 pm
Hare(s): Spike & Anacondom
Where: Black Rapids Lock Station
Hash Cash: $10.00 for Hash down-downs.
While not an actual part of the Red Dress Weekend Monday’s regular hash could be called a bit of a hang over or hanger on hash. With some out of towners hanging on for one last out of the city hashes.
Spike and Anacondom set a short trail from the Black Rapids Lock Station along one of the NCC trails and into the suburbs to return to the lock station.
While it had originally been planned for the “Puffin” to bring in the BBQ’s and be tied up at the lock, because of the high water no tie ups were allowed. Consequently the BBQ’s had to be brought in by vehicle. This did not interfere with the cooking of the hamburgers or sausages and there was an ample supply of the amber nectar.
Well done hares for keeping the run short and sweet after a weekend of running.
