I have just been a bit busy these past few days. What with the renos starting to wind down and Christmas just around the corner. I promise to do better shortly. So it will be just a slideshow of the past couple of days weather.

I didn’t put anything up yesterday except for the weather and may put a lot of today either. i have started doing some genealogy research again it just seems to grab you. Mind you I do pull out my hair at times when I hit some kind of stumbling block. Hopefully I am on the right trail again.
“The Girls” have gone out to buy a new stove. Ours seems to have packed it in once again. The oven does not turn on and from what I have been told this is the second time it has happened. Wendy called a repair person the first time and he replaced the thermostat, one or two of the top burners had also failed and had to be replaced. Now the cost of doing repairs has added up to almost the cost of a new stove so what do you do? When they were getting a new microwave and dishwasher they saw one they liked so that is the one they will be getting. It should be installed and working some time this week. Ah the joys… Luckily the barbecue is still working so the chickens are roasting away on it. Don and family are coming over for Sunday dinner so we have to make sure everything is ready . At least all the top burners are working. What a dull dreary day it is today. Not the best way to start the month of December. Oh well, at least we are not buried in 12 feet of snow.
This type of weather reminds me of my time in London, England when from November until March it was cold and damp. The sun would only come out occasionally to try and warm things up. While the temperatures rarely dipped below freezing the damp air went right into your bones. That is the way it is here today. i took a walk up to Home Hardware and was glad that I had my winter coat on. Luc the Electrician was in and did some final touchups and the electrical inspector gave him a pass. Gary the HVAC fellow was in and installed the stove so now the kitchen is all set to go. The only thing that has to be done to finish it off is to put up the crown moulding which is scheduled for the 18th and that should be the end of it. Cleaners and floor finishers are in Monday to tidy up and put the floors in order. We have the go ahead to bring things in from the garage for the basement so that will be a job for the weekend. We don’t want to bring any of the other things in until everything is cleaned and the floor done. That will probably be a big job next weekend. “The Girls” are quite happy with the kitchen sink and granite counter tops. Now they will just have to figure out where to put everything once they have the ok for that. i am still doing a bit of research on the old family and trying to find out some mysterious information but things seem to be coming together. It can become very confusing when brothers name there children the same i.e. Bill names his first born John and his brother Jim also names his first born John (after their father) and the sons are either the same age or a year’s difference, even sisters do the same thing. And of course fathers naming their first born after themselves. The split can be very confusing and you have to ensure that you stay on the right branch. Then of course there are all the people with the same names that are not related or distant relatives. |
