Getting caught up

Here it is Wednesday the 5th of November and Guy Fawkes Day in the UK. Guy Fawkes was a member of a group of provincial English Catholics who planned the failed Gunpowder Plot of 1605.

In commemoration of Guy the Ottawa Hash did the annual Guy Fawkes run on Monday night.  However, this years event was just a little different.  Because of the tragic events that had taken place in the past weeks the fireworks display as well as running around the Parliament Buildings were cancelled.  See the Hash Trash under ‘Hashing’.

We took a trip out to the farm in the afternoon to pick up the kids from the school bus.  We were supposed to be getting them every day but Shereene was sick on Tuesday so we didn’t have to get them then.

The ‘Laff’ which was the ON IN for the hash doesn’t have any food so after the circle we came home and had fresh eggs and bacon for a late supper.

As I mentioned we didn’t have to go out to the farm on Tuesday so it was just a stay at home day.  Worked doing the hash trash for most of the day.  It is surprising just how time consuming writing can be.  For example I have been ‘working’ on this off and on all day today.

Finally, there was a company that came around to grind out the tree stump on the boulevard.  Our ash tree was cut down in the spring because the Emerald Ash Borer had just about killed it.  I talked to the guy running the grinder and told him that I would be interested in keeping the chippings.  No problem and if I want more just let the guys doing the clean up know.  While the crew was probably on lunch break I took four wheelbarrow loads and put them on the raised garden.  It was off to the farm to pick up the kids, and check on the chickens (19 eggs) and when I got back there was a neat pile of chipping at the curb.  I got out the wheelbarrow and got another 4 loads.  I put two in where I am planning to plant potatoes next spring and the other 2 in the compost.

Didn’t make it to Old FARTS today.  Just thought I would give it a bit of a miss.  Found out the meal was either pork loin or roast beef.  Sounds as if I missed out on a good meal but if I had of gone I would have had to have moved all of the chipping after getting back from the farm.

Still doing my daily Facebook joke posting as well as putting up a photo of my dad during WWII and entering the weather in my ‘green book’ and now posting on here as well.  It would be interesting to check out just how the forecast related to the actual weather.
