While Halloween night is always a fun night with all the kids this year we decided to go to Upper Canada Village to see the Pumpkin Inferno on the 30th. We had heard about it in past years but never made the trip. This year, probably because of Hareth, it was a go but we did have to pick and chose the right night. Because everything is new for Hareth we really have become home town tourists.
Lucky for us the 30th, the last night, turned out to be nicer than the previous nights - no rain or wind. It was still cool but again warmer than previous nights. It was off on the short drive south. I do believe that we were lucky arriving as early (just after 6pm) as we did because by the time we left (just after 8pm) it was getting to be almost shoulder to shoulder.
it was quite amazing to see not only the number of carved pumpkins but the variety as well. The only ones that were carved the same were in a themed display. Needless to say I did take quite a few photos which are attached. Take a slow look through to get an idea of the intricate job that was was done.
Upper Canada Village says: “Come and stroll through a hauntingly beautiful and spellbinding outdoor exhibit of close to 7,000 hand-crafted pumpkins, set against a stirring night-time backdrop just inside the gates of historic Upper Canada Village. Marvel at rejuvenated and eclectic displays of scenes from exotic places and historic ages, meet up with forest animals and sea-born creatures, see story book heroes, mythical characters, cultural icons and more .... all carved from pumpkins!”
It is also well worth a visit to Upper Canada Village in the summer. That is where Olivia spent a week in the last three summers as a "Time Traveller" and Mieka for a week last summer. There is also going to be a Christmas light show over that holiday period.
